Read the story about a brave man who did not lose hope.
A man in his thirties had a bad accident and lost one of his legs. His world was crushed. He was devastated and wanted to die. He got an artificial leg but he hated it. He wouldn’t go out of the house, he wouldn’t talk to his wife and he wouldn’t play with his little girl. Days, weeks, and months passed. Summer turned into autumn, autumn into winter. Nothing changed in his life. He was sad, bitter, and scared. He had no reason to live.
Spring came. With its scents, colours, and breezes it surprisingly brought some warmth and hope to the man. As if he had woken up from a deep sleep, he noticed his little girl, his wife, and friends again. Slowly, he started to talk to them, go out of the house, and smile. As the sun warmed the air, it seemed that it also warmed his heart and his life. He started to live again.
Another year passed. Life was good again for the man. He did everything he had done before and more. Everything was all right. Only sometimes, in a moment of solitude, he wandered why this had happened to him, why him.
Then one day the answer came. On a cold, grey winter day he was reading an article about two orphan boys. They had both became invalids in an accident, just like him. The answer hit him. Immediately, he knew what to do. He found them, arranged everything with the authorities and brought them home. He adopted them and they became a part of his family. He didn’t do a miracle with them in a night, or a week, or a month. But as another spring came, it was as if they had woken up from a deep sleep, they started to talk to the family, they started to smile. If he had not lost his leg, none of this would have happened. Everything was all right, just as it should be. Today he would not change a thing.
